Changing the mode of operation from direct current regeneration to counter-current should reduce operating costs. An additional series changeover circuit was also provided for maximum operational reliability.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Solution&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;tab-2d090-4ac4&#8243;][vc_column_text]The conversion of the new system to counter-current operation led to savings of approx. 50% in regenerating salt. By means of a fully automatic hardness measurement between the two exchangers in operation, the capacity can now be fully utilized even with fluctuations in the raw water hardness without a hardness break occurring. Both exchangers are always connected in an alternating series circuit (1-2 : 2-1) so that any hardening slip from the first operating exchanger is absorbed by the second safety exchanger connected in series.
